2017 Greyhawk Microwave vent.

I pulled the microwave for a repair, and the vent behind it seemed stuck closed. I figured it was just one more issue to fix. Then I went outside and looked up at it, and was surprised to see it needs to be physically unlatched so it can angle out to release the microwave exhaust. I see now that the purpose is to keep bugs and hornets out of it. I thought I would post it here for any of you guys that may have overlooked it. So I learned something new about the rig today. I assumed it would be on a spring or something.

Do you need to keep it closed when you are driving?

Ours latches, I just use a broom handle to move the latches around as needed. If you don't latch it down, it will just flap and make noise going down the road.

Very clever idea, otherwise you have to have a ladder to reach the thing to open close it. If the wind flaps it going down the road might break it. Another true confession; I thought the microwave was defective, but discovered you have to press "cook time", enter the input, and it automatically cooks on high. Never had one like that before. Did I read the manual? Noooooooo

Never heard of a microwave vent until I read this. I have a 2017 Greyhawk MV, so I went outside and there it was, way up high. No latch - just a shallow cowling with what appears to be a gravity weighted flapper inside.

What is it supposed to vent?
