2017 Melbourne 24L Stabilizers

Hi to Everyone:

This is my first post and my first motorhome. Love the forum. My wife and I just returned from our first outing in our new Melbourne. It was just a four day long weekend "shakedown" to Mystic, Ct. over the Easter holiday. Absolutely loved the 24L. Worked my way through most of the newbie issues but am writing hoping for some insight into one issue that went unresolved, specifically, the stabilizers.

Our campsite was relatively level with an unpaved, pretty compacted, crushed stone base. The MH appeared level so I extended the stabilizers down on to 18" 2x6 wood blocks I brought from home. Next morning, however, it became apparent that the coach was off level favoring the front of the chassis. To correct this I borrowed some plastic leveling blocks from my son-in-law and raised the front about three inches. That solved the leveling issue, but after again extending the stabilizers onto the wooden platforms, when moving around inside the MH side to side movement was apparent. Not a rocking, per se, but enough movement that you could feel it.

So, the question is; did I do something wrong (or more importantly, could I have done something better?) Is there a better way to stabilize the Melbourne? Is this just "normal" movement for a smaller RV with minimized stabilizers? I guess you get the picture.. Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Welcome and congratulations. Stabilizers apparently make it more stable but doesn't eliminate all the movement.
