29MV power cord storage

I have a 2017 Greyhawk 29mv, power cord is stored in a compartment with a hatch covered hole in bottom of compartment for cord to be pulled thru. It is very hard to get the male plug through the hatch. Has anyone cut the cord and installed a connection (male) just inside the compartment and install female plug on the remaining cord so that you can open the compartment and plug in without feeding thru the hatch in the bottom of the compartment?

The cord pull IS a pain in the backside. As part of my Autoformer purchase I ordered the kit that includes the short male whip. I only have to feed the short whip down the hole - much easier then the whole 25 feet or so.

Pulling the cord thru the bottom hole is not all that bad, the actual plug is just a bit harder, but my bottom hole cover has a couple of the fingers/flaps missing so that makes it a bit easier.

I just hate having to clean or wipe down the power cord and water hoses when breaking camp after rains. Right behind the sewer hose in dislikes.

Moded ours so there is an outdoor receptical for a twist lock cord. We had this on our ForestRiver pop up and like it better then dragging the cord out of a small compartment.

Lots of other forum members have done this and I plan to get mine done this year. I'm tired of scraping my knuckles pushing the cord back in. I know Marino makes a unit for this, others are out there also.

Guess I'm the only one that's too lazy to use the hole. I just feed the cord through the door. The slide covers this area so there's no water intrusion. I keep my autoformer in the same compartment and leaving the door open allows for a little air circulation however the autoformer has never even gotten warm.

I cut my cord about two feet back and installed plugs on both ends. The plugs i installed go through the hole a lot easier than the factory moulded end and you don't have to pull the whole cable through. works good, at home the big cable stays rolled up and i use a reg extension cord fed into the box.

Never scraped a knuckle, I just put some slack cord under the unit, pull the cord back thru the bottom hole, gather up more slack, pull it thru. Do basically the same when setting up and dragging the cord out thru the bottom hole.
