Ac filter

Is their a better filter then the black foam sponge that came with the unit. After a day or two of use the filter gets distorted and starts to get sucked into the intake. Im thinking maybe their is a 3m replacent or something. Thanks

Wal-Mart carries sponge AC filter that you cut to fit.

I've been pondering the same exact question. I have pretty bad allergies and am asthmatic, so it would be nice to have a little more filtration (like more than say a drone-sized object floating around). So far all I've come up with is a table-top filter like this:

I'm worried about cutting down a better filter because I don't want to restrict airflow through my AC unit and face freezing issues.

Mine has some type velcro thing on the four corners of the frame to grab the filter.

BOB we have the same problem and it dosent help that we have a german shepherd in the camper with us. That black filter gets covered in a grey dusty coating and has to be cleaned just about every other day. I don't mind cleaning it I just wonder how much crap is getting past it and blown back into the camper.

Right?! We have a pound puppy who's mostly collie, and he gets hair EVERYWHERE. In the spring, when he sheds his winter coat, you can literally see it falling off him in clouds and clumps!

So far, since I haven't bought that filter yet, I just do my best to keep the dust down with my California Duster, vacuum and sweep frequently (though there is little carpet) and I try to keep the stock air "filter" as clean as I can.

I would not restrict the air flow of these units. Just buy the material and cut it a little bigger so it is better held in place by the plastic grate. Cut multiple, so you can quickly swap them out.

We had the same filter in our old TT. What I wound up doing was cutting out some 1/2" hardware cloth as a backer. Never had any further problems with it getting sucked in. Our new trailer has a different style filter.

Hardware cloth is the mesh material typically used for things like rabbit cages, crawl space vents and other similar places that you want to keep varmints in or out. Search Google for the term and switch to images to see what I mean. I happened to have some leftover from an old project.

I picked up the filter material at wallyworld for $1 and cut it a little bigger then the original at it is holding up much better. Thanks for the replies.
