Bed Lifts

Has anyone installed bed lifts on their Seneca? The bed lifts up and provides a good bit of storage, but lifting it up and placing the items all in one motion is not possible and the prop rod Jayco provides was meant for people more vertically challenged than me. :-)

Did anyone's unit come from Jayco with them installed?

I bought a set (2) of 120lb (each) lifts and brackets from Amazon and I intend to make and install my own kit, but I figured I'd ask if anyone else has completed this so I can avoid any mistakes.

Thanks

Ted

I believe with an FS with a fixed bed, lift struts certainly should work in your application. I suspect you may have to reinforce the areas where you locate the ball studs since there will be a lot of stress at those points. Doubtful the base was constructed to take the stress.

I really would like lift struts on my TS, but the way my mattress platform slides across the bed base because of the bedroom slide I have yet to figure out a way to make it work.

Good luck and post some pictures when you are done so others might try it too.

Yup, the only Seneca where you could use bed lifts is the FS. Suggest that you look at some class A DP's and steal ideas from them. I haven't seen a DP that doesn't have a lift.

WaltW, excuse my ignorance, but what is a DP?

Bedlift

I also have an FS and ordered the lift kit from CW. Cheaper than the manufacturer direct. Hope to reduce the clutter on the bunk beds when no kids to bed.

Yup. I wasn't sure whether the less expensive gas class A's would have bed lifts.

My Greyhawk has a rather flimsy piece of plywood with a metal strut arm with nothing on the plywood to latch onto. I am going to have to build something for it myself...

I'd like to add struts to my bed but the way it's designed won't allow it. The mattress and the piece of plywood under the mattress move with the slide. The box supporting the mattress doesn't move so there's really no place to attach a strut.
