Has anyone replaced this, or purchased one that uses a 9v instead? Ours is old and doesn't work.

I have replaced them every time they go bad or every 5 years which ever comes first. Don't use anything other than a direct replacement. The one you posted is the standard. You can shop around and find them cheaper but they need to have a 5 year life span. Some you buy on ebay are already a couple years old even though new.

I bought a second plug-in unit that I install near the bunks in my trailer, it has a 9v battery backup. I think it's good to have redundancy and the unit was only $40 the hardware store.
