Chassis Battery Location on Seneca
This might be one of those things where I slap my head when I hear the answer. Camping in Nova Scotia my neighbor came over to admire my Seneca and we got to talking about batteries as he had a solar panel hooked to his chassis battery on his Forest River class C.
As we got to talking I realized I don't know where my chassis batteries are located. I have four batteries in the compartment behind the driver's door but I just assumed they were all for the coach.
Can anyone tell me where the chassis batteries are located before I start dismantling my RV?
Thanks, Mark

Assuming yours is on the M2 chassis and not the SRV2 chassis, it would be behind a panel in the step-area, directly below the driver's seat.

X 2 Mark. Three screws to remove that panel in the driver's door jamb, unless Jayco started putting a 4th screw up near the block heater receptacle like some of us have done to stop that front edge from flapping around at highway speeds!
They won't be fun to change out when it is time!

Rob I was wondering about that too! Do you have to remove the Jayco steps to gain access to the batteries?

I am afraid I can't say, have not had to mess with chassis batteries yet.
What I can say is I won't have too much trouble removing my steps if it is necessary. I say this because they have been off already to shoot them with bedliner on the tread areas to eliminate the issue of peeling tread pads and scratched up fuel fill area. The first removal was very difficult due to the crappy hardware Jayco used. The screws were extremely corroded in place and I ended up drilling them out. Other owners are likely to face the same challenges.
When I replaced the steps I used stainless steel rivnuts into the supports under the steps and stainless screws to secure the steps back on. I am confident they will come back off more easily than before!

We just left Amherst this morning. Back in Calais, Maine. Loved Canada. People were great. Except for the one that on hearing we were American started telling us how bad our president is.
Funny, we passed 2 Senecas while in Canada and I wondered if any were my virtual friends on this forum.
Enjoy your travels.

On the S2RV chassis all 6 of your batteries are on the slide out tray. 4 of the batteries should be of one type; those are your "house" batteries. The other two are the "chassis" or truck starting batteries.

I realize this is an old post, but I have dead engine batteries on my 2018 Jayco Seneca. Has anyone found an easy way to take them out? Looking at them, I can only assume disconnecting (while busting knuckles) and pulling one at a time...….any suggestions???? The old sarge sends regards...…..

Here is a link to the adventure we experienced. Would I do it again? Yes. I don't trust Camping World at all -

Batteries
My 2017 Seneca is in storage. Went down today to start the RV. Chassis Batteries are dead. They are original to the Seneca.
Tried to use the booster still would not turnover.
Tried to start generator, would not start.
Question is 'How do you jump start the chassis Bat.

Your M2 rig MAY have jump posts located on the frame rail behind the right front tire. Picture attached.
If your rig DOES NOT have the above-mentioned external posts you can also remove the panel inside the driver's door and access the chassis batteries directly. Be aware the negative connections are outboard, the positive connections are towards the center of the rig. Be very careful maneuvering the jumper cables in there!
And your coach (house) batteries must also be dead since they are what start the generator. Once you get the chassis engine started you can try using the emergency start button under the dash to tie both sets of batteries together to start the generator. However that may require two people, one to hold down the button, a second person to actually start the generator at the panel.

I have a 2017 and the jump start posts are in the same location as depicted in Robbbyr's post.
