I don't recall the exact name, but it's a yellow "sponge" I got at the auto parts store, apparently designed to help remove bugs. I've never had to use anything but that and a bucket of soapy water. I've also found that a good coat of wax on the front cap helps in removing them.

Keep good coat of wax on paint . Wash sponge with bug mesh on one side and micro fiber strands on the other . I have a soft scrub brush on a adjustable pole but the sponge works better . If I am ready to wax again Dawn dish detergent really cleans it well but will remove the wax .

Get some detailing clay for the smudges, it will work just like a magic eraser does.
Good automotive soap with lots of suds, water and a micro fiber wash mit for everything else.
The thing about heavy all purpose cleaners is that they will deteiorate any wax that's on it. I use those products as a last / worst case scenario.
Once its all clean, use a paint sealant then a good caranuba wax

Just remember that the reason dryer sheets work is beacuse they also remove the wax under the bugs.
You can dampen a dryer sheet and rub it on your car to help remove dead bugs, particularly love bugs that embed in your finish. The dryer sheet trick also helps if you need to get at tar or sap. Just keep in mind that the reason this works is that the chemicals in the dryer sheet dissolve the vehicle's finish.

Sorry cutting/pasting Amazon via mobile is a pain. But I use this; out works well:
Bugsplatter N All 1qt. Concentrate Makes 8 Quarts. Multi-Surface Vehicle Cleaner / Bug Splatter and Black Streak Remover.

I use Rejex about every six months. The bugs wash off. I found this is much easier than trying to scrub bugs off every trip.

Dawn removes any wax you have put on. It is recommended by Rejex to use Dawn prior to applying to remove all previous wax.

Also easier to remove bugs if it's early morning and there's dew or after a long rain that softens them up.
