Coach battery hookup

Took out my 2 twelve volt batteries last fall.
I was slack in noting what wires went where.
Any tips on hooking them back up.

2008 Jayco Melbourne.

Thanks for any tips.

Glad I'm not the only one! 11 years of taking them out and this year I had a serious senior moment......couldn't remember how they were wired. Only blew two fuses tryin to figure it out.
I'm drawing myself a picture of how they're wired when the new one arrives.
My Dr. hasn't given me an Rx for my CRS condition yet.
Not much help eh? But misery loves company!

well as far as hookup from what ive seen. hook the negative to negative on the 2 batteries and positive to positive , then hook positive of one battery to coach and negative from coach to negative of other battery . I would look at the coach battery cables closely and see which one is grounded to frame or which one has fusable links of something indicating it is positive. hope that helps

This is how the basic 6V and 12V batteries are hooked...

Always look for the terminal markings POS + or NEG - stamped on the battery case

Find the FRAME GROUND cable and it will go to the GROUND here.. usually a full WHITE COLOR...

The other cables usually BLACK or different full colors other than white will hook to the 12V side show in the pictorial...

With todays CELL PHONE PHOTOS sure is easy to take pictures of things and then go in the house and make a printed copy of it. In the battery case use a zip lock sandwich bag and keep your battery wiring picture stored in it taped to wall close to the battery...

As an RV newbie, I didn't note the terminal config on our Greyhawk last fall when it went into storage. Removed the battery and put plastic bag around + wires before storage. This spring hooked up battery (2 wires to + and 2 wires to -) ...wrong. Leveler jack control panel wouldn't work and figured I popped a fuse or panel wiring was loose. Checked both and nada. Took it in for servicing (different issue) and had them also look at panel. The tech called and asked my wife if we removed the battery last fall, "yes" and then said my husband hooked it back up this spring. Yep did it wrong - and not ashamed to admit it. Thankfully didn't mess anything up and now have digital photo of config for next time! "Make a mistake once and it becomes a lesson... make the same mistake twice and your wife will never let it go!"
