Replaced ours with an AGM battery from Cabellas - Best battery for the money. Also put a 2nd matching battery in parallel to increase the capacity. Our RV is a Redhawk 26X1
The cabelas AGM is an excellent one both the Gp 24 or 27. The Gp 24 has lots of power and the Gp 27 has of course even more. I have a Cabelas Gp 24 in my both and used in the Redhawk briefly while waiting for an AGM from VMAX for the Redhawk. I added a Gp 27 85 amp hour for the house battery. This thing is a super battery. I have been using AGM for nearly 10 years and they hold up for 8-10 years with failure. Great improvement in the old typical lead acid boiling water out batteries.
Correction to above. The AGM will hold up for 8-10 years without failure and can be deep cycled hundreds of times and bounce right back from charging. Of course the manufacturers say never drain one below 10.5 volts which in RV almost never happens unless you are totally dry camping and never take along a battery charger. The Cabelas battery stated above which is used in my boat is in its 8th season for trolling.
The on board converter charger is ideal for charging the AGM battery because it is a true microprocessor that supplies max probably never more than 8 amp in full charge mode and this is proportionali to needs of battery. Unlike the vehicle alternator which is not as refined but still is suitable for charging the AGM with it's more robust current supply.
