Crank up antenna flop

I have a 2009 Greyhawk 31GS. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep the crank up antenna from flopping during transit? Of Course its above the cab and really makes a lot of noise when travelling.

Thank you

Re-read the directions. Once stowed properly, it doesn't move.

Thanks mike837go .....been there, done that. Directions are pretty straight forward. Still flops and makes a horrible noise. The only thing I can think of is that it is not retracting low enough.

"not retracting low enough"

And, depending on how far forward it is, it may be getting hit by the turbulence of the air transitioning from the front to the top of the RV.

Have you looked at it after it's been retracted? How close (touching?) to the roof are the thicker parts? Are the metal "batwing" parts in the direction of travel? Are any pieces loose or able to vibrate?

Follow the lubrication chart, make sure the rubber bits are soft and that none of the wires are tangled.

"Follow the lubrication chart..."

The gear mechanism accessible from the roof should be lubricated every 6 months with a lithium grease according to the manufacturer Winegard.

On my antenna there is a rubber stop that rests on the roof once the antenna is lowered. That rubber stop may be missing.

X2 - I think that's your best bet.

Some Winegard batwing antennas have four rubber bumpers to rest on when cranked Down.

I NEVER used my crank up antenna and it frequently wouldn't crank up or down (for cleaning under it) so when my rubber roof failed late last year I took the opportunity to get rid of the crank up antenna. I use DirecTV and a tripod exclusively. I did feel there should be a TV antenna up there, so I installed the one in the picture. I don't know how well it works, but it is there.

This new roof is the RV Flex Armor roof. Absolutely the best thing I have ever done.

In a mh, there are many things moving that can and will drive a person batty trying to find and silence. Good luck with that. We tt and 5er pullers don't have a clue what you speak of until you ride in a mh.

When you lower it, make sure it is lined up and flat. I put some 2 inch squares of Eternabond tape on the roof, placed directly where the rubber pads rest to prevent any potential damage to the membrane.
