Entry Door Lock w/Keypad

I'd like to swap out our entry door lock with one that has a combo code but haven't found one that seemed to gave good reviews and worked to replace the factory one.

Has anyone found one that they are happy with?

Have had our's replaced twice and have found them so unreliable, we have become use to the keys and that is what we use. Looks cute, not worth the hassle.

I just got a new 2017 Greyhawk that has that feature. I haven't even tried to program it yet, not sure if it even has batteries in it. In my gut you guys are confirming my suspicion. That's probably gonna be the first thing to break. I think the second thing will be those electric steps.

I have had pretty good luck with the installed combo lock on mine (2015 29me) I do suggest using only lithium batteries due to temp extremes.Hot sun on a black door lock can easily heat above standard battery capabilities. Got locked out one tim...although I am pretty sure the number sequence to change the code was accidentally typed in. We now hide a door key in a compartment after that incident.

Good luck

I have had 2 installed on my 2015 Greyhawk. The largest issue is that while you are rolling down the road the batteries vibrate and lose connection so your code will not be stored. In essence, you will have to redo your code every time you stop. I ended up putting a real estate agents lock box on my ladder rack and putting a key in there. Works every time and a lot less hassle.

I have keyless entry and have never used it. I don't trust it, to be honest. Not even sure if it works.

Jayco sent a new Keypad lock to replace the one in our 31DS.
Much better design than the original.
Much stronger and keyboard only activates when touched.
It has better battery life and it locks boith the deadbolt and the
main latch.
Thanks Jayco

Do you by chance know the brand and model of the new one you have?

2017 GH 31FS with keypad entry and I am seeing that the batteries only last a few weeks at best. It seems that this may be only one of many problems. Are there any suggestions as to how to make them last longer?

I have the original Bauer keypad lock. The battery life was short lived until somebody clued me in to use Lithium batteries. That's actually what the manual calls for. The batteries last me for 3 or 4 months under constant use. I find it a very convenient feature. That being said, I have keys to all my locks stowed in a key box magnetically attached to the frame of my genset.

Not only that, but how do you get in when the batteries have run out and you left your key inside? I have the combo lock but still use the key. (And no, you have to put batteries in yourself).

My truck camper came with a remote lock by RVLock.(www.rvlock.com). They make remote locks for entry doors and cargo doors. I used mine quite a bit for about a year then the audible stopped working. Everything else still works but the beep confirmations don't work anymore. A replacement keypad is $10 plus $2 shipping. Mine was still under warranty so I got a total replacement from the truck camper manufacturer. We'll see how long this one works?

Smile Bauer Keyless entry

I have the Bauer keyless entry lock on my Greyhawk and I have had pretty good luck with it I had a problem where it seemed to stop working and Bauer asked me to return it and replaced it with a new one at no cost. They do recommend new Energizer batteries and thats what I use . No problems.
I did have one problem in side the warranty where part of the latch broke and Jayco replaced that.

I installed an AP-Products 013-531 EM Electric Door Lock about a year ago. Works perfectly. One thing to mention that is important to functionality and battery life. Ensure your receiver is completely clear of your bolt, so that there is no "drag" when locking or unlocking. On my receiver side, I removed the assembly, adjusted it to be flat and square, filed off burrs from manufacturing, and reinstalled exactly where I needed it and used Loctite on the bolts.

It works great, and the door closes and locks with just a finger push.

I too keep keys, cash and some "emergency devices" stashed so I can get them quickly if needed.

I noticed water activates the keypad on the factory locks. I'm sure thats what kills the batteries. A simple slide cover would probably have solved that. I'll try the lithium batteries, should at least last a month or two.

We sealed the lock to the door upon installation with black RTV. Once cured, we then taped it off and sprayed the panel with a very light coat of something called Flex-Seal. (You can get it at your local home improvement store.) It works perfectly and we have had no issues for a year.

The Bauer lock that came with our Greyhawk works very well. Usually needs only one set of batteries per season. I will try lithium batteries next year.
