Extended Warranty & Other Offerings on New Redhawk

Going to be accepting delivery of a new Redhawk 26X1 next week. Among the offerings the dealer is pushing are:
  • Extended Warranty 7yrs/75k miles $4,778
  • Enviro/Guard paint sealant $1,481
  • Vinyl/Leather & Fabric sealant $607
  • Tyron flat tire protection (front wheels only) $1,887

The Jayco 2 year bumper to bumper warranty would be primary, as would the GM (this is the Chevy 4500 chassis) 3 year/36K mile warranty. So, the extended warranty would really be 5 years on the coach and 4 years on the Chevy chassis.

Is it just me, or does spending another $8,750+ seem a little excessive? I think I could get a lot of cleaning/detailing and tires for that amount of money. This is my first RV purchase, so any and all advice is appreciated.

all of this, especially the paint sealant and interior protection is a massive rip off..the dealer is a outright thief...Don't trust him with anything...
Look at Good Sam for reasonable rates...after original warranties run out.
What is the dealers name and location ?

Personally I would pass on all of them. Get a extended warranty thru GM on the drivetrain if needed after the factory one runs out.

extended warranty

Read the brochure for Eagle Plus coverage below the no-exclusions Guardian. Almost everything is covered for 5 years after the Jayco warranty quits. They still have my Seneca coach after 3 months for a Schwintek slide problem at one year of ownership. I figure I'll get my insurance premium back. Unfortunately.

TampaRV an offshoot of the RVOne network tried a similar ploy with me. I could not justify financing for the life of the loan, things which were not going to last the length of the loan. The jayco warranty is 2 yr/24,000 miles ( i am at 20,000 now and its not a year old), so use that up before signing up for all the rest of them.

I'd pass on all of it... just another way for the dealer to make money.

You probably won't have any issues with the drive train for a long time if proper maintenance is done.

The V10 coupled with the 6 speed transmission is rock solid and very dependable. The six speed tranny is much quieter than the 5 speed, and you can use the cruise control almost all the time. Another big plus with the 6 speed is the mileage... we averaged 11.2 MPG from West Virginia to Florida. Awesome!

Tampa RV's service department stinks. I had to call Jayco direst to get them to do some warranty work.

I love this part of the negotiation! I say YES to EVERYTHING and at the end just simply ask them to note on the contract that "dealer advised consumer vehicle is not reliable and needs additional warranty protection".

How about you write your own warranty policy? Put $60 in savings every month for 7 years!

DO NOT buy the Good Sam Extended Warranty.

Read the attachment with is page 6 and 7 of what they DO NOT COVER under the warranty.

You don't get this document until 3-6 weeks after you sign the papers... They do not disclose this up front... they simply say to you that "everything is covered" which is a lie.

PLEASE read the exclusions!!!!!
