First time with generator

We have a 2007 Jayco Seneca 35 gs with a onan 30 controller and a 6000 generator. We have it on auto and when the ac starts the generator starts no problem but when the ac shuts down the generator continues to run what am I doing wrong
I set the controller to auto and turn ignition on off
then set it to auto start
when the ac starts the switch red led flashes then gen starts and ac starts but when the the ac shuts off the gen continues to run shouldn't it shut off also what should the battery switch be set and also the inverter thanks

When you say does not shut down how long are you waiting 15 minutes 30 minutes or does it run for an hour? When the AC shuts off the generator will run for around ten minutes to see if it gets a demand signal from the AC, also if the batteries still require a charge the generator will continue to run. Please ad a bit more information?

Can anyone tell me what the procedure is to set the time and also the quiet time on and off on an Onan 30 control also I'm at a family member's house and I have run off of a 20 amp service before for one air conditioner is that a safe thing and has anyone else ever done that I don't run anything else in the RV just the air conditioner and its a 20 amp 110 circuit

Here's the link to the manual.

https://www.cumminsonan.com/www/pdf/...Wmanual-en.pdf

And yes you can run one ac alone on a 20 amp circuit, we did it for many years in the 70's and early 80's at rallies at fairgrounds.

Generator switch on and inverter off. How is it working for you now?

The battery switch should be on.
Setting the quit time on and off has been hit or miss for me. Grab a cup of coffee. Did you print out the manual? I know your frustration so maybe someone who is in their RV could walk you through the keystrokes.

I never turned the battery switch off so I would have it on when programming auto start. We traded our 08 last year so I can't walk through it, but section 5-1 of the manual seems to explain it pretty good.
