Fueling problems - anyone else?

I have a frustrating problem whenever I fuel the gas tank of my Greyhawk. It takes forever to fuel because the pump nozzle keeps shutting off. This happens no matter what type of nozzle and how far into the fuel pipe I insert it. I am talking here of the normal shut-down of a vapor recycle nozzle when the tank is almost full. On rare occasions this does not happen, but I am unable to attribute it to anything different that I am doing. Weather makes no difference.

I had this same problem when I rented a Cruise America class C in 2007.

It is the angles in the filler hose... creates a backlog of fuel... I have the same on my diesel when I added the 52 gallon inbody tank....

Sorry for the delay. I was under my coach this weekend and remembered your post. I noticed that the filler tube had a rubber segment just past the gas cap. The rubber piece on my coach had slightly twisted, reducing the tube diameter. If yours is doing the same thing, I 'd say there's a good chance that's where your problem is.

Just curious... We looked at Greyhawks not long ago. The dealer said it got about 14mpg on the highway. Is that your experience? Thanks

Fueling problems

14 mpg !!! Maybe with a 60 mph tail wind. I have an 07 greyhawk, 31GS, 10 cyl. and I might get 10 mpg if I'm not towing a car.

2010 Jayco Melbourne.......Takes ages to fill tank up due to same problem. The only way that works is to pump very slow or it will cut off.

I have a 2011 Melbourne, and feeding her fuel is a slow task. I appreciate the news about the twist and will check that out.

2008 Melbourne. Have the same problem filling the tank. Seems to do better with the vapor hoses. Rarely do I get the tank full according to the fuel gauge. In response to Healthi's question, about 9 mpg, not pulling a toad. Most trips have been on slightly hilly terrain.

Same will our 2011. Tried everything. Now just wait it out.
Seem to be the same problem across the board.

Greyhawk Fuel Filler

We have a 2010 31 SS. I can run any gas nozzle at any rate with no difficulty. This one also like fuel at about 9 M.P.G.

My 2011 Greyhawk 31SS takes gas as fast as the pump can go... $$$$$$. As for fuel "economy" i average 8mph (the midwest is not flat) and can squeeze 10 on flat land.

Our Greyhawk gets about 7. We just traded our 5,000 lb toad for a Ford Focus and hope that will help some. Wish we could get even 8.

Have not problem filling our 2012 Melbourne 29d with gas and on a trip from Illinois to Colorado, towing a Chevy Equinox, averaged 9mpg.

I fuel up the greyhawk with no problem. Any problems with slow filling has to be a manufactures defect and should be looked at by the dealer.
Gas mileage averages between 8.5 and 9 depending on the mountains we have to climb.
I trained myself on getting better milage by installing Scanguage that constantly gives me the mph, that way my lead foot has gotten to be a light foot.

So Hawk -do you use straight gas or ethanol? Here in "hawkeye" country we get ethanol for about $.10 cheaper - just curious if the "straight" stuff makes a difference. I know on my 5.4 F150 there is a big difference between E-85 and the 10% mix.
