Generator Usage

Due to recent storms in Ohio, my elderly parents may be without electricity for several days. I was considering taking my Melbourne to Ohio for them to live in during this period. Will it harm the generator to run full time for three or four days? The oil was changed in the spring and has about 4 hours of use since last changed.

Absolutely take it to them to use. Generators are designed for continuous use. Just check the oil to make sure it is full. Generators do have sensors to check virtually everything so even low oil will shut it down.

I had a power failure here in the park where I am hosting and it took the park 17 hours to get an electrician in to do the repair, but my family and I were nice and cool the entire time.

We use ours for power outages more than when traveling. One incident it ran for 1 1/2 days.

I run mine almost continuously for 5 days every summer at the race track. As others have said, they are designed to do it and you have almost no hours on your oil. I'm sure that others will disagree, but I don't even shut mine down to refuel.

Hope I am not out of line here since I don't have a class C.

I go to the AHDRA (motorcycle drags) events. I use 2 Honda EU2000i generators in parallel fed from a five gallon tank. Typically run for 60 hours continuous. I also refuel without shutting down. Heavy use on the A/C in August. There is no shade in the pits.

Generators run great with no problems whatsoever. These are quiet generators but that doesn't matter much at a race track because many are using those noisy construction grade generators.

Recommended 100 hour.

The external fuel tank mod makes it easy to keep adding fuel without having to shut down the generators.
