Girard hot water Seneca

I have been having problems with my unit. Dealer has looked at it several times and replaced the sail switch. After replacing the switch we had to bang on the unit outside each time to get it to light. This past weekend the unit worked every time with no outside banging. What should I do? continue to push Jayco to replace or see how it goes next time out?

Thoughts??

Just seeing the "banging" part of your post... Girard issued a recall on the solenoids used in the Gen III models. Might want to explore if your unit is part of their recall.

Push jay o to replace it with a truma. You'll never have a problem ever again.

We now have Two Girard water heaters... A Gen-1 and a Gen-2. Our Gen-1 we purchased used from another member of JOF and we now use it to heat our Pool.

The Sail Switch (on the exhaust port) that detects the fan is running - IS a VERY fussy switch. Not that it does not turn on / off, but the tension it requires to open / close.

We find that the sail switch will engage the burner correctly, and then when the exhaust air is much warmer - it is not able to keep the sail switch engaged. Banging the heater will solve the issue for a little while, but it could be in the sensitivity of the switch as air density changes with temperature.
