Gps
It is time to replace my GPS. What brands and models are recommended and being used by others. The new units have many features to consider before purchasing.

We bought the Garmin RV 760LMT last yr. Very easy to use, a lot nice features specific to rving. We did a 17 day east coast trip this past summer and the directions were spot on each time. Loved the warnings of steep grades, sharp corners, high wind areas, and low bridges. I literally put the specs of my trailer into the unit, added some destinations and away we went. Also you can turn of the rv functions and use as normal gps for when you're unhooked and exploring around the local areas. One annoying thing was we couldn't figure out how to stop the propane off warning from chiming in every 5 min while driving across the state of NY, we ended up muting the unit until we stopped.

We use a Garmin 660LMT and it works well for us. I believe it is very similar to the 760LMT mentioned above. It generally does a very good job routing and you can modify the routes it suggests if needed. It also has good database of POI's and has guided us successfully to many. I also bought a Garmin backup camera, which displays nicely on the GPS screen.

I support the use of Gamin 760 as well. We have over 200,000 miles by Goldwing across our great country with a couple of Garmin units.
If we had depended on google maps by phone, we would have had problems in many areas around the country.

After owning a Tom Tom (something that should be beaten) and a Magellan (that I wish would get lost), I would buy nothing but a Garmin in the future.

I am on my 3d Garmin and all are still working fine. The first 2 did not come with lifetime map upgrades and it was cheaper to find a deal on a new one than pay for the update. Use the oldest in my fishing boat, the 2nd in my day driver and the newest one in my wife's new car and that is the one that moves to the TV when we travel. Not sure of the features but the newest one doesn't repeat the annoying phrase "recalculating" every time you pull into a gas station or stop for lunch.

Another "+1" for the Garmin - have used a RV660LMT for 2 years now and it's done a great job. Will be adding the remote backup-camera option to it this spring before heading out again. I do a lot of "pre-planning" with their related Base Camp software and transfer complete trips to the GPS unit that include planned fuel and rest stops. It has voice command capability so you can search and adjust along the way hands free and allows you to enter your trailer dimensions and weights for use in route planning.

IMHO you can't go wrong with the Garmin. We have three of them:
1. TV - RV 760LMT
2. DWs car
3. Bicycle
The TV and Bike units are 3 and 6 years old respectively, and never any issues with wither of them.

The one that came with our '16 - the Jensen one - is quirky and takes some getting used to.
What I have come to appreciate is the ability to touch the upper right and instantly pull up distances to next three fuel stops.
But, I do rely on Google Maps on my phone more than anything.

We use CoPilot on our iPhones which seems to be RV centric GPS app. We use a simple Cigarette Lighter magnetic army mount which puts it in perfect position to use. Throw out that option as well.

We use the RV760LMT also. It works very good, and you can connect you smartphone to it via bluetooth to use advanced traffic and weather.

Another user of the Garmin 760LMT here and are very happy with it. Bluetooth links to smartphone for traffic and weather are great.
But one thing we REALLY like is the camera. Although it works ok for backing up, we tend to use it MUCH more while traveling down the road. Wire the camera into a power feed that can be controlled from the cab/TV (ie: running lights) and you can flip easily from the map to the camera by simply turning the running lights on/off. Makes lane changes MUCH easier, especially in heavy traffic.

bluejay40, the OP has a Seneca so already has side and rear view cameras (wish they would add this info to their signature). I have the 760 LMT also and like it but would like to have GPS with built in dash cam...but it must have the RV/truck info due to Seneca's height and weight.
