Greyhawk Tankless Water heater questions

I have read threads complaining about controlling water temp in the shower with the tankless WH.

Does it operate ok in the various other sinks in the coach? Do you have to run it full blast in those sinks? Can you control the temperature on low flow?

We have ordered a 2016 29MV for April 2016 delivery and we are curious about this WH.

alvinator, I have a 2013 Greyhawk and I have a temp control in my washroom. You also control the temp with the flow of water. If you put the taps on full then the water passes through the heater to quick and therefore lower temp. It takes a little getting used to. I found you just need to "play" with the temp control and water flow until you get something that works for you.

According to Jayco Girad has made some changes to the tank less heater for 2016 involving pressure regulation which supposedly solves most of the issues. Someone else here installed a flow regulator at the hose bib and set it a 50 or 55 psi and said it solved the problems.

The Jayco dealer I was dealing with said he replaced half of them with a standard tank heater. I'm not thrilled about a brand new motor home being retrofitted this way.
This seems to be a big issue for Jayco. I would have sooner seen them return to the standard tank in 2016.
Largely due to this issue Jayco has fallen to the bottom of my list of possible new purchase.

I agree with Marshmellow. After playing with flow and flame we have found our comfortable setting. We did however recently have to turn up the flame as the outside temperatures have dropped, thus lowering the temp of incoming water from the fresh water tank.

While the new units from Girard have been announced and I got a brochure from them, it seems no one has one. One major on line store had not herd about them until I asked and they called Girard. We're trying to get one to replace the 6 gallon tank our new Mirada has.. Sadly were leaving the Jayco family.

We might be the exemption, but we like the tankless water heater.

Two key things to remember. You must have the proper flow of water, therefore a flow regulator. Incoming water temperature, therefore as temp drops, higher setting, higher temp, lower setting.

I am also happy with the tankless heater in our Seneca. I dial it in when we first get to a campsite and then leave it alone. The best setting does change depending on both the campground water and outside temps. Once it is set, though, the DW can take as long a shower as she wants without running out of hot water.

I think the biggest problem is that most folks don't read the directions.

I will second the motion on not reading the directions!

Ours works just fine in our Greyhawk. We're trading for Coachmen Mirada and are paying to have the 6 gallon Atwood removed and the Girard installed.

New to this style of heater, and have been reading the many posts on the subject. We have found a comfort setting of just using hot water and having the temp set by how we dialed it in at the control on the wall. So far, working well.
