Hopefully purchasing 2016 Redhawk 29k

Well we have been researching for a while and looking into trading in our truck and 5er on a class C. Went to the big rv show last weekend and have been really looking at getting the 29xk. Have been on here for a couple hours as well as some other forums and have not seen anything bad about the jayco. So hopefully everything works out and we can possibly get it next week. So look forward to being on here more and learning a bunch more. The class c is all new to me, we have had the 5er for a few years now so it's going to be a whole new learning experience.

If you do not mind me asking, what kind of on line pricing quotes are you getting on this model?

We had a class B for years. Sold that last year and bought our TT. We considered a class C and maybe we will decide to do that a few years.

Please keep us on JOF posted on your experience moving from a trailer to a MH.

I haven't gotten any online pricing. The dealership at the show had it advertised at 67,995.

It is not unusual to get 30% or more off the retail price on line.

Retail without options is $92,625*.7= $64,750

Hope that helps and good luck.

We bought a 29XK in late November. We are quite pleased with it. Seems well built, except for a few minor fitment issues. We took care of these ourselves while out camping and avoided tying it up at the dealer for warranty service. All they cost was a little time. Had travel trailers before that. Got, what we figured was a good price on it. It has the features that we wanted, drives pretty well for a big rectangle and is very comfortable for the 2 of us and the dog.

Here is a photo the day after we picked it up

If you don't mind, when you have some time, would you mind putting up a post describing your decision to move from a truck and towable to a MH? DW is absolutely convinced she wants a Class C, even has one picked out. But I'm not sold. I JUST got my truck last May, and I'm not ready to give it up. I love my truck and our trailer, but she thinks she wants something different...

Well, here is what moved us to make the change...

* Safety: We sometimes found ourselves getting out of the truck to go back for a bathroom break, snack, nap, etc., and didn't always feel safe in the area (dark, lonely, raining, etc.)

* Age: We're retired, and the whole hooking and un-hooking thing was just getting a bit too much for us.

* Convenience: Just pulling over to use the bathroom, get a snack, taking a nap, etc. is so much easier in the motorhome. Also, setting up for camping is a lot faster and less labor intensive.

* Driving comfort: The Redhawk 26XD is much more comfortable to travel in than the F150 was, in it much easier to make un-planned tourist stops with the small motorhome, than it was with the truck and trailer combo.

Of course, it always comes down to personal preference, and at our age, this just works better for us.

Whatever you decide, enjoy happy and safe camping!

I had a pop-up and a hybrid. When I wanted solid sides I too went w/ the motorhome. Just simpler all around - no WDH, tongue weight, sway bars, backing up heartburn, tail wagging the dog, etc. I camp to relax, not stress out. For me it was just simpler.

Mind you I'm paying an arm and a leg for it. Only go around once though.

And that's one of the kickers. If we made the move now (or soon), we'd take a nice wet bath on everything. New truck, new trailer, planned to keep them both for at least 10 years, 2.5 yrs down the road and one of us is having second thoughts. And that's just getting rid of what we have, not even considering the purchase of the "new" unit. Granted, we are definitely not "upside down" in anything, but it would still hurt a lot right now.

Yeah, I don't think it's gonna happen any time soon.

OTOH, I'm thinking down the road, in like 10 yrs for our next rig, I'll want a 5er, and she'll definitely want a MH. She'll probably win since she refers to our current TT as "my" trailer; like she had nothing to do with it! HA!

Even w/ the MH, it's 'my camper' every time she gets the checkbook out. So don't figure on any of that improving ...

Your DW must know mine! Talk about the truth!

If there's money leaving our house, it's my fault. I've lost track of the number of times I've heard "What did you buy?! ... Oh, wait, that was me..."

Do all of the DWs have a secret forum that only they communicate on? All of that sounds TOO familiar. That's why I tell folks "Talk to the boss, I just drive the truck." ;-)
