Interior Ceiling Speaker Upgrade

Has anybody upgraded the ceiling speakers in their Greyhawk/Redhawk? I found a couple old threads here talking about travel trailer upgrades, but I can't find anything for our motorhomes. Has anybody pulled the stock speakers out of the ceiling for something better performing?

I plan on replacing the cab speakers this spring. Nice video for E450s here:

A few members on here have changed out their OEM ceiling speakers with good results. It's been a while since I've seen a thread on this, but IIRC you just get something that's the right size to fit in the existing hole and you're GTG. At least that's what I got out of those discussions. Also, from what I remember, it doesn't take a "high-end" speaker to make a significant improvement over OEM.

Some day I'll change mine out, but it's pretty far down on the list of mods at this point.

We did replace the Ford in-door speakers last year with compatible Infinity ones - big difference. Found them from Sonix Electronics - https://www.sonicelectronix.com/item...-PR8602cf.html.

I too want to find a good replacement speaker with white screen/cover to replace ceiling speakers as well, but have had little luck. Lots of replacements out there with black screen/covers, but very few good quality speakers with white screen/covers.

Pull out one of the speakers you want to replace, and take it down to your preferred car stereo store to see what they have. Mounting depth is obviously your primary constraint. Without someone replying with your exact same setup, that's the only approach I'd be comfortable with.

I've already purchased upgraded speakers for my TT, but I can't confirm or deny if they are what you would need since we're comparing different systems. Better speakers makes a huge difference as I'm sure you're aware...

Good luck, but this is a simple mod.

Look to marine supply as well. Automotive tend to be black covers, marine often have white covers.

You can get around the mounting depth problem with an adapter ring. Search Amazon for "speaker depth ring adapter" and you'll see things that will help you out.

Make sure the impedence matches or you could fry your amplifier. Pioneer, Kenwood, JBL are good brands. I would buy from a car stereo shop (worked at one installing in the 70's while in college) and if you don't like black grills paint them. Marine speakers are usually waterproof and don't sound as good as automotive speakers. my present motorhome has JBL's with factory white grills and I am very happy with the sound.

I recently did this exact thing, along with my stereo. Did it all through www.Crutchfield.com.

They can give you kits and speaker/radio combinations that fit the truck exactly. Then, it only takes measuring the replacement size of speaker for the house. They are the best for customer service.
