Major improvement to TV Sound

The speakers in the Jensen TV leave a lot to be desired. Picked up a Vizio sound bar ar Walmart today for $78. Connected it to the Jensen tv with the supplied digital coaxial cable. Huge improvement in the sound.

Question,
I am looking at Vizio sound bar that has a set output volume, which means no more blaring Tv commercials. Does your model have that feature?

Yes, I think it does. They mentioned something about that in the book. I have the model: SB2920-C6. It's got a feature called "DTS True Volume". It connects to the Jensen with a digital coaxial cable which is in the box so you don't have to buy any cables.

I updated my hawk with a cd player that has 2 new things to me, a usb input on the front and a audio input jack in the front for a auxiliary input. I can put literally thousands of albums from cd's or you-tube on a 8 gig usb stick and it will play for a entire trip perfectly, no matter how rough the road is. The other thing is the aux. input, I play the tv sound through it with a mini jack cable throughout the built in speakers in the rv.

How did you mount the sound bar? I have one of those sound bars and was thinking about putting it in the Seneca.

I just set it on the over cab bunk. I put it towards the front of the truck deep into the bunk the the shape of the area gives you an amphitheater type sound.

I have a couple of small BLUETOOTH speakers that will run from a USB adapter setup. This also will sync to any BLUETOOTH capable connection like from your truck radio system etc...

Apparently they will also run from an AUX audio input..

These small speakers have great sound reproducing quality...

I have several BROADCASTIFY Radio Scanners setup using six or so TAB settings and all of these are feeding the computer audio system. I route this out to my bluetooth speakers using the USB BLUETOOTH transmitter adapter.

Makes for a great radio scanner sitting in the yard under the patio or around the bon-fire...

Has a pretty good range around my back yard...

I bet using something like this with the VIZIO/JENSEN poor quality speaker setup would work great too...

This is the Dell 05CC6 AD211 Wireless Portable Speaker I am playing with... (AMAZON)

Sound bars are much better than the built in speakers of your TV.

But, if you have the room, a 2.1 system will take your AV experience to the next level. The sound can rival many home theater systems.

Now we're talking! I think 2.1 are ideally suited for RV's given the limited space. A subwoofer is always a bonus IMO.

Mnwelsh, You said -"It connects to the Jensen with a digital coaxial cable which is in the box so you don't have to buy any cables"

I've got so much to learn in this category. I need to get my "techi" son in law involved.
Our 2016 37FS Seneca came with an HDMI switching unit. There is a spare port on this. Could I hook the "sound bar" into the system through that? The TV's are hooked to it through the HDMI cable. So is half the connection already made?

Please excuse the old man ignorance.

Most new HDMI cables\systems pass audio and video through the one cable. But, to take the audio out of the TV and to a aftermarket sound device, you can either use an optical digital audio cable, or and analog two wire cable set up (usually red and white). Just depends on what your aftermarket device supports. Use digital, if it supports it.

Optical digital audio cables have a very small diameter usually and have a small, five sided socket on either end.

When you buy the Visio sound bar there are several cables in the box. One is called a digital coax cable. I put one end in the sound bar and the other end in the Jensen output slot , it's labeled SPDIF on the TV. Turn in your tv and the sound bar and press the input button on the sound bar remote. It will find the connection. You don't have to mess with HDMI cables. Hope this helps..

Can you play the TV sound through the overhead coach speakers?

jestew3, you said - "Can you play the TV sound through the overhead coach speakers?"

I think maybe, but haven't figured it out yet. And so I read this forum trying to learn more.

I wasn't trying to be a smart a$$, I found that on my Seneca you can play the TV audio through the Aux 2 input.

Every since I put the sound bar in I have not tried to use the installed speakers in the interior of the Seneca. The sound bar is so good and the speakers in the ceiling work through the Jensen radio in the cab, it's a pain to use that so I have not attempted to use them.
