Master Battery cut off

We brought home our new 2016, 31FK yesterday in a blowing snowstorm! I parked the unit in my driveway yesterday and plugged it into shore power. This morning we went to take the motorhome to our storage unit and when I attempted to shut off the master battery cut off nothing happened! Am I doing something wrong? It appears to be a simple toggle switch. When I push the rocker switch up I hear a clicking but nothing happens and I still have lights in the unit.
Does anyone have any ideas? Worst case is I wait until Monday morning but I wondered if there was anything I could do in the interim.
Thanks in advance for your ideas and Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to all of you.

Not familiar with your unit, but can you take of the negative battery term off for now? I assume your shore power isn't connected either.

Have to ask!

Did you un-plug shore power? The converter supplies 12v with or without the battery.

Grumpy, thank you. Yes it is unplugged from shore power. Shouldn't I be able to shut off that main switch and kill all power to the inside of the unit? I thought that is what the switch did besides if in the off position the battery would not charge from shore power.
Thank you for your help.

If it's unplugged, yes, that relay should kill all 12v to the coach.

Thanks Grumpy, that is what I thought. For some reason it is not working and since we just brought it home last night I will call the dealer on Monday. Have a great Christmas.

This is what my Redhawk Manual states
The battery disconnect feature should be used to disconnect the motor home from
house battery power during periods of storage or during maintenance. The
solenoid must be engaged for the 12-volt house electrical system to operate.
Never depress the momentary battery disconnect switch for longer than 1 second.
Depressing and holding the switch down will disable the battery disconnect
solenoid. Should this occur the main ground cable for the house batteries must be
removed for 1 minute to re-enable the solenoid operation.

Elcheapo --

Thank you very much, this is great information. I was holding it down for more than a second trying to figure it out. I will disconnect the battery tomorrow and hopefully reset it! I will also have to check with the dealer since I did not get any type of manual with the unit. Thank you again and Merry Christmas.

Yep - elcheapo nailed it. Just press it once quickly to kill all of the power. Looks like Santa brought you a nice 31FK! Congratulations!

You can Download a Owners Manual on Jayco's website. It will show year 2017 but you can select the year you own. Just click on Owners Support at top of Class C Motorhomes page.

Thank you Pconroy, yes it was a great Christmas present but driving it home in a driving snowstorm was not what I had envisioned! It handled well on the icy roads. We had it in the driveway for an evening but it was too cold and too snowy to do anything with it so we took it back to our covered storage off site. Will have to go and disconnect the battery tomorrow once my daughters have gone back home! I hope you had a Merry Christmas.

Thanks for the information Buddy Rae, I will take a look. I will try disconnecting the battery tomorrow and hopefully resolve my master cutoff issue. One problem down and resolved, on to the next! Thanks again and Merry Christmas.

Just an update for everyone. I tried unhooking the cable from the negative battery terminal to reset the master shut off switch solenoid this afternoon. I had no success. I did end up with the CO detector lights and the leveling jack panel lights blinking and chirping but the switch would not disconnect the battery. Will call the dealer tomorrow and see what is going on. My thanks to all of you for your help.

Boost and battery disconnect solenoid help

I'm interested to know how this was resolved and where you got your replacement solenoid. I'm having issues and believe I have a bad solenoid here as well as the battery boost.

Thanks!

Dbpublic, in my case it was simply user error. First couple of days with the new rig, in freezing and snowy conditions had me frustrated. All is well, with a simple, quick flick of the switch. Good luck.
