Mt Rushmore RV Campgrounds

Venturing off to Mt. Rushmore in Mid-June this coming summer in our 2015 Seneca RB. Any recommendations on RV Campgrounds near Mt. Rushmore? Its only me and the wife and our two Schnoodles, each 5 years old. Looking for clean, closely located to attractions, shuttles to attractions and pretty views. Was looking on line at the KOA at Mt Rushmore at Palmer Gulch Let me know if anyone has been out there and what they recommend. Thanks Howard

Rafter J

We stayed at Rafter J and were very impressed. It was clean and the spots are really nice. I don't think that they have shuttles, but it's located near everything. Have a good trip.

This destination was just recently talked about at this thread. http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f1...ore-32283.html

I would recommend Rafter J also. More open space and more peace and quiet then Palmer Gulch. We have stayed at both and prefer Rafter J.

Shuttles to attractions are rare.

If that's the KOA with the lodge, it is 10's all around. We stayed at the KOA in Rapid CIty as there were many places we wanted to visit in the area and it was centrally located - Badlands, Wall SD, Sturgis, mammoth site S of Rushmore, etc. You will also not be too far from Devils Tower in Sundance, WY. KOA there is nice too.

You might consider Custer State Park. It is close to Rushmore and the scenery is beautiful. Camped there this summer.

We stayed at Rafter J last July for 2 nights on our way home from the West coast. Beautiful place that is very close to Mt. Rushmore (<10 minutes). The sites are very big and there are many choices if you want shade, open field or in the trees. Nice pool, hot tub and store with propane and gas. I would definitely stay there again when we go back. The only thing I would do differently would be to stay at least 4 nights rather than 2 as there is so much to see and do in that area.
Enjoy!!

We booked the Palmer Gulch KOA for late July. Has anyone had any issues there? Will be taking our '14 Seneca 37fs w/ a 20' enclosed for total of 64' of goodness. -Just worried about maneuvering around there.
