Power Configuration
Hello all from a cold January day in Ontario Canada.
We purchased our 2017 Greyhawk 31st at the end of last summer and managed to take it out a few times before storing it for the winter. We have not fully had a chance to figure everything out about how everything works yet and cannot not wait until the spring to get camping again.
We are curious about how all the power configurations work.
Currently the house battery, since early November, is attached to a trickle charger in my basement as there is no shore power at the storage facility and I have been going out to the storage location every 2 weeks to start up the engine and generator. Typically letting them run for 30-60 minutes per time.
Upon doing this last Wednesday I have noticed that once the generator turns on so does the clock on the microwave as well as the power light on the master bedroom tv. I turned on the tv but just saw blue "no signal" screen come on.
This got my curiosity going as I was under the impression that once the house battery got removed all power to the house was gone. Are some items hard wired into the generator?
I know I will need to do a "what does what if I do this" weekend in the spring as well. Ah the life of a newbie.

AC powered devices will run from an AC source(genny or shore power) if you have one. The microwave is an AC device. Also, the generator is likely powering your converter which is supplying 12V to the rest of the system, even without the battery.

Like the previous poster said your microwave is a 120-volt AC device, as is/are your TV(s). So by running your generator you are supplying those items with the power they need to run.
You have an inverter that will let you run the TV off of the house battery when not plugged in to outside power or running the generator, but the TV still is using 120-volt AC power via the inverter doing its job. It may have made you "think" the TV is 12-volts because you were able to use it while not plugged in or on the generator, but it really isn't.

No power to the TV because the ignition switch was on.

Bedroom TV had power light on and subsequent "no signal" screen, but had they tried the front TV that likely would have been the case unless they already have enacted "the fix".

Thanks for information. There is so much to learn that is not covered at time of purchase or during the walk through.
I am interested in this "fix" you speak of as we are planning a Florida trip this summer and definitely can use the main television to help the kids stay occupied with movies during travel.
We had not realized that this tv won't operate while the vehicle is running.

I have a 2017 Melbourne (just got it). Can someone tell me why I don't have any power to the AC outlets when the generator is running?

Also be aware most generators have a circuit breaker located right on the generator itself.
