Power outlets while moving

When using our 2015 Jayco Greyhawk 31DS we were going to charge some phones using the wall outlets. We discovered that none of the wall outlets work while the coach is in motion. Only the TV outlet works when stopped and then only when the inverter is on.

Is this right? It would be nice to have at least one outlet work via the inverter while in motion w/o having to run the generator.

That`s the way it is with travel trailers too. No ac outlets unless hooked to shore power or generator.

I believe the other outlets will work withthe inverter while in motion. Chek out this forum regarding the TV outlet.

Defeat the relay that shuts off the power to the tv and then you can run it off the inverter going down the road. Many many threads dedicated to defeating the relay on the tv outlet.

The only outlet powered by the inverter in our 2014 Greyhawk is the one behind the living room TV. The others require shore or generator power.

If you don't plan to use any more power than to charge a phone, you could get a small inverter and plug it into one of your 12V power points.

The inverter usually only powers the TV plug, which is then switched off via a relay when in motion (so the driver is not "distracted" by the tv while driving).

There are many threads dealing with disabling this relay.

For us, we charge the phones via the 12V plug. We also bring along a small inverter to run a laptop if needed.
