Precept TV through Ceiling Speakers

Anybody able to have audio from TV play through the ceiling speakers in their Precept. Only audio directly from the Jensen plays through RV speakers right now. I'm currently tracing the wiring and it is quite a mess. Stuff plugged into the wrong place. Audio wires being used for video, etc. etc. There are wires coming from the audio out of the TV, but I'm not convinced there is an audio in on the Jensen, other that the 3.5mm jack on the front of the unit.
Curious to know if anyone has broadcast TV playing through the speakers, so I can know if it wasn't designed this way, or if my rig was wired by a blind man .

We have a Jensen TV (JE3214) with an iRV6500BT head unit. The TV has RCA "audio out" jacks in the back and the head unit has RCA "aux in" jacks on the back. Once connected with a standard RCA (red & white) cable, you should be able to set the TV to "External Speakers" (in Setup) and the head unit to "Aux In" and listen to the over-the-air TV channels.

I haven't set mine up this way yet because I have a 12 volt Jensen TV on order but I have done the research to make it work. Hope this helps.

Hi Joe. I was working on a solution this week for this very thing. I can run the surround speakers in the ceiling when a DVD is playing by using the radio/DVD remote. I was not able to get the additional speakers with JUST TV though. I'm still thinking the process but haven't begun the wire tracing...........oh my.
Stands to reason, if the DVD can get it, the wiring is in place. Right??????

According to the Jensen Radio manual, the only audio input is the 3.5mm jack on the front of the unit. That would mean running a 3.5mm line from the headphone output on the TV (or converting the RCA audio outs to 3.5mm) to that jack. I have the living room torn up right now tracing the lines, and it's a hot mess. I'm fairly audio/video savvy, so I can say without hesitation that the person who wired this should be strung up by composite cables, tarred and feathered.
I'm ripping it all out and starting from scratch. Only way to know for sure what's what. Will let you know what I find.

I have opened a service ticket with Jayco Customer service, and am told that a tech will be in touch with me within 24-48 hrs.
If this sheds any light on this, I will share what he tells me.

Not sure which Jensen I have in my 5th wheeler but I pulled the radio out and there are connections in the back for running audio from the TV to the radio auxiliary inputs. I listen to my TV over the Jensen radio all the time.

Towable head units are completely different. That's what I was used to. This being my first MH, not sure what is and is not wired to the dash radio.
Will find out shortly...I hope

So here's what I have so far:
There are left and right audio outputs on the back of the living room TV, and when you set the Jensen to Aux2 and crank the volume up, you get sound through the ceiling, sort of. After troubleshooting it appears that only the left channel is wired to the Jensen correctly. the right channel is dead, and it's not the TV. Tested and confirmed the right and left channels are outputting properly from the TV, but the Jensen is only receiving left channel. Now I need to pull the Jensen to see if it only has 1 input, or if there is a wiring issue.....again.
We'll see...

Joe, you're awesome. We are watching the front TV with complete surround sound coordinating Aux 2. The volumn control and mute work off of the TV remote too.
Thank you for your investigation.

I got to say thanks for the Aux 2 info. It also works with my Clarion unit in my Gray Hawk. Have had to run the TV sound all the way up, not now.

OK Darrell I need you to take it 1 step further. While you’re listening to the TV through the ceiling speakers, go to the TV on screen menu and find the audio settings. Go to Balance and while it's playing through the ceiling speakers run the balance all the way to the left, and then all the way to the right. Are you getting equal sound from both the left and right channels? I'd like to know if Jayco wired it purposely through only 1 channel, or if it's just a wiring error on my unit.
Thanks please let me know what you find.
Jayco still hasn't responded to my trouble ticket.

Joe, I have equal sound/volume on the right and left sides of the balance. Like MadDad said, we don't have to run the volume on the TV on the high side to hear it now. I had the TV sound on about 1/2, turned on the Aux2 and tuned the volume of Aux2 with the TV. From then on, I use the TV remote to adjust the volume.

Then I have a bad wire somewhere that I need to trace...
I only get left channel...back under the rig for me...

Jayco called me back today...It seems I'm on the right track.
They confirmed the Aux2 option SHOULD be the way it works, but pulling the Jensen out to confirm proper wiring is needed. He said they just went from Clarion to Jensen, so initially, he wasn't sure...the saga continues...

Joe, although there have been some issues, in the broader picture it appears Jayco is quite responsive to issues that arise. I appreciate the fact the support is there. I noticed in the 31 UL that was on display at the KC RV show, the radio was different. It also had a weather channel..............I liked that feature a lot.
As for Jayco response, I emailed them last week for info on windshield blind & driver/passenger side blinds. They responded within 2 days with part numbers so I can order them through my dealer. That will finally be done in the spring.
Thanks for keeping us informed on your research and good luck with having it all come together.
Darrell
