Propane capacity - gallons?
Does anyone happen to know the propane tank capacity for our Greyhawks in gallons?
Gauge read about 1/2 full and he put in about 5 gallons this morning to fill it. I haven't had this unit long enough or consumed enough propane to know if I can trust the external gauge.
Just looking for a sanity check, along the lines of "Yeah, that sounds about right..." or "Nope - that sounds odd, better keep a close eye on things!"
5 gallons sounds a little light, I was expecting him to pump in closer to 6 or 7.
Merci!

30 lb tanks should hold about 7 gallons at 80% full which is about as full as they go to allow for expansion. This full tank would weigh 55 pounds. If you have 2 of them, obviously double the math.
You can also do the math to figure out how many gallons you should need to refill based on any given tank size when it is 'bone dry'.
You don't have to worry that much about getting screwed on refills. It's people that exchange their tanks that often end up with a 70% tank, but paid for a full one.
If you can tell me the size tank(s) (in lbs) that you have, I'd be happy to tell you how many gallons of propane you should be holding when full, I just don't have your specs in front of me.

It should be stamped into the tank or on the plate attached.

I believe you have a 56 pound capacity propane tank, which roughly equates to about 13 gallons.
Our ASME tank gauges have an internal float that magnetically operate the external gauge. My gauge always shows my tank lower than it actually is based on refilling it, so I have learned to judge my need to refill. It seems to be consistent, just consistently low. Better than reading too high I guess!

I believe they have 13 gal tanks. But they only fill them 3/4 full, so 13 gal x .75 = 9.75 gals usable capacity

I am new to RV camping with propane. I am surprised how little propane I used this season. The fridge while traveling 9000 miles (roughly 120 hours) was my biggest usage but we did use the cooktop some and maybe 10-15 hours of running the furnace and our gauge reads a little less than 1/2 full.

Same here. I keep wishing they will start doubling the battery and cutting the propane in half.

Me too.
Until - last week's winter camping outing. A couple of days with temps in the teens and we burned thru a 1/4 tank in two days.

Our recent Christmas/ New Year camping in southern Utah, temps dipped to 25F at night.....used 1/4 tank each night with temp set at 70 and bedroom ceiling vent covered. Also used a small electric heater and electric mattress pad. Cut interior temp to 65F during they day as we were out alot.
