Propane grill

I really don't care for the propane grill that came with our MH. However, the idea of using the hose and gas connection would be convenient. The grill I would like to use has its own regulator and operates off the 1 pound cans of propane gas. It possible to change the fittings to make my preferred grill work off the MH's external gas hookup? Or because the MH has a regulator and my Kuma brand grill has its own regulator I am out of luck?

Need to bypass the regulator somehow then yes. Double regulation = no BTU's.

You would likely have to dismantle your preferred grill to get it to work. I will have mine working with my CampChef stove.

You can read the sticky under Campfire Cooking or try this if you have a Weber or Camp Chef stove.

I have a Weber q2200 grill and I bought a quick connect hose ($40) that connects to the propane line under my MH, and screws on to where you would normally have a small green propane tank . Easy, plug and play.
Here are some stock pics of what I'm talking about.

Only problem I'm having is that the gas pressure is not strong from that outlet. Going to have the dealer look at it because it should be stronger.

Your gas pressure is low because it is going through two regulators (trailer regulator and BBQ regulator). You need to remove the regulator from the BBQ to make it work properly. Below is what you need to make it work.

After removing the regulator from the Weber Q, you can purchase this from Amazon:

Amazon.com: Camco 57274 Control Valve with Quick Connect: Automotive

You remove the quick connect fitting from the Amazon purchased control valve and connect it to the control valve on your Weber. Be sure to use yellow Teflon tape on the threads that is approved for gas fittings!

You can then buy the following quick connect hose from Amazon and everything will work perfectly:

Amazon.com: Camco 57282 10' Propane Quick-Connect Hose: Automotive

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Propane grill

Awesome! How do I remove the regulator on the Weber?

When the grill that came with the RV was past it's use I bought a new one from Walmart and then transferred the regulator from the old one to the new one. Same thread and size. Just removed the new regulator for bottles and swapped in my old one.

I removed the regulator from my table top gas grill and had a 15' hose with a male quick disconnect on one end to connect to the RV quick disconnect female under the Rv and a fitting that attached to the grill at the other end. I had the hose made at a local propane dealer that does installations of LP gas systems. The long hose really is handy. Plenty of pressure for the grill from the RV propane regulator.

On my Weber, it just unscrewed. Then I added the male quick-connect from the valve assembly mentioned above. Use some yellow teflon tape for a good connection with no leaks and you should be good to go.

I have not done this for my grill, but have done it for my camp fire in a can. You need to remove the regulator from your device. You are then at the mercy of the pressure specs of the MH's regulator. The camp fir ein a can works perfect on the regulated MH outlet. I suspect any of the smaller gas grills would as well.

You're right - that is not going to work because the LP coming from the motorhome connection is already low pressure and the built in regulator reduces it more (too much). You need to go to an LP gas "store" and have them give you a line that attaches to the Weber where the current regulator will be removed.

This is what I have done and it works great. Only drawback is you can no longer use the portable LP tanks, since they are high pressure.

Unless you use a regulator on the portable tank.

I went the easy route and purchased the Camco Olympian 5500. It was plug and play and I have had it over 500 Degrees more than once. Its great for 3 people. But may not be big enough for more than 3.

Did the same thing - works great.
