I know this is an older post, but I have noticed that my propane tank heats up (handle hot to touch) as I drive our 2012 Jayco greyhawk. Wondering if I should try to install some type of heat shield as our pressure relief valve went off on a recent trip.

Have a look at post #15 from cchandler. Perhaps Jayco Customer Service would be of some assistance.

Yeah, old thread, but interestingly enough, I got home a little earlier from a trip, and when I flipped open the hatch to turn off the propane, I noticed a blast of heat and the tank handle was very warm. My guess, since these V10s throw off so much heat, much of it gets trapped under the rig, and takes a while to vent out and dissipate. The actual design of the chassis and side panels of the rig automatically trap the heat under the rig.

I have been battling this issue with my 2013 Grayhawk for the past few months. We even stop every few hours to spray the tank with water to cool it off to prevent the relief valve from opening. Taking it into an exhaust shop tomorrow to have the catalytic converter and pipes looked at to eliminate that from the potential problem list. Next is to install a heat shield or have the pipes wrapped. Definitely don't like the risk of an explosion while the tank is venting.
