Proper Torque - '16 Ford E450 Lug nuts

I'm about to test my electric torque wrench in removal of lug nuts on a front wheel. In reinstalling the lug nuts I would like to properly torque them, but have no idea what the proper torque is.

Anyone here know the official torque on Ford E450 lug nuts.....???

If you have 9/16 x 18 studs, and two piece lug nuts (a washer that is attached, and spins on the nut) The last I knew, the torque spec was 140 ft/lbs, with one drop of oil between the nut and washer combo. Tighten them in stages of torque, like 50 lbs, 90 lbs, then 140 lbs, in a star pattern. No lube on the stud itself. A call to a Ford dealer service dept. would confirm that. You're not going to get an accurate torque unless using a regular torque wrench, with adjustable ft/lb settings. If your lug nuts are a different style, I'm not sure.

Tighten in a star pattern to 148 lb-ft.

Ok, testing complete ....... Using my 3 ton floor jack, I lifted the front left wheel, removed the lugs with my Kobalt electric Impact Wrench. (plugged into the coach, generator running to reenact an on-the-road situation)

It was "Zip, Zip, Zip" and the lugs were off. I zipped them back, and used my 200lb Torque wrench set at 148 foot pounds to tighten the lugs..

The electric torque wrench tightened the lugs really close to the proper torque on the first squeeze. That made proper torqueing really easy. I know I can't carry my floor jack, so I will carry my 12 ton bottle jack (15 LBS).

I feel confident that should I become unlucky and experience a flat, with enough room, I can handle it.

On Friday we head west to TX, NM, AZ, CA, UT, CO, WY, MT. ND, SD, Then complete the circle.

Your Ford Owners manual has the correct torque instructions, should be in glove box.
