Protecting your toad

What is everyone using to protect the front of their towed vehicles? I have heard that the bras will damage the paint and that the guards will deflect debris into the back of the motorhome. I have read that the Protect-a-tow product (http://protectatow.tripod.com/) works very well. It looks awfully narrow where it attaches to the car. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

We went to Alaska and beat our toad (Mazda B2300) almost to death on the "top of the world" highway in the Yukon. I was using the wide mudflaps that are supposed to protect the toad - NOT. We lost mucho paint and broke two windows on the toad (one on the back window and other on the fiberglass topper).

This in the only tow vehicle protector that I saw being used that seemed to really work: http://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-...r/RM-4000.html This was being used by folks with expensive looking toads.

Good luck!

For me I use something called Trakk Tape. It's meant for car racing but does a great job on protecting the front end. Put it on before I leave and tear it off when I arrive.

I like the Roadmaster Tow Defender. I have never noticed any damage to my toad.

Exclamation

We have towed our Jeep several thousand miles, mostly paved roads but some back roads too, without any special protection, not a single chip or broken glass. Do your mud flaps drag and possibly cause the rocks to flip up? Its a long throw from the rear tires to the towed, especially from around the mud flaps. Or maybe it's just that Alaskan gravel road, I haven't experienced it and just don't know!

Trippers,
I'm in the process of preparing my Wrangler to tow behind a 06 Greyhawk 31SS we bought last Fall. I was wondering what kind of protector I need to buy. I'm thinking the Wrangler sits high enough to miss most of the troublemakers. Do you have any of the mudflaps and/or a rear skirt of some type?
