Rental
Some people have contacted me about renting my rig. Does anyone have experience? Does anyone know the difference in insurance, warranty, AAA coverage, etc? Just looking for information.
Thanks.

I appreciate the non helpful responses. But I'm trying to learn about the process involved. I enjoy making money on my rig I can't use for parts of the year. Especially when I'm renting my class c but mostly use the class A.
So politely asking for information anyone has on renting. Not if you would or not.

I would simply contact my insurance company and ask them. I would not be surprised if commercial insurance were required.

I know your current insurance will likely not cover it in commercial use, renting would be commercial.
I would have real concerns about the renters insurance, specifically liability insurance if they damage or hurt another with your property.
There is a service here in Central CA that rents TT; however what they do is deliver, setup, and retrieve the unit from the CG. They get $200/night for decent units, not great, and they have no issues booking year round. They do have a concession with many of the CG and CA State Parks that allow them access to deliver and retrieve.
If I was going to rent, I would find a way to set it up similar to their model. Eliminate renters towing and you eliminate a tremendous amount of risk.

Jayco's warranty is specifically void in commercial uses.

Once you start trying to make money with your property, the laws get very hot and heavy!
Liability issues abound!
Definitely discuss this with your insurance agent, your accountant and especially your lawyer.
I looked into it this summer to help a neighbor who wanted to test the waters. If I let them borrow it, all was OK. Once I took money or even something in exchange (barter) it would be 'for profit' and it would get messy real quick.
You'll save yourself a whole lot of money if you sell the rig you don't use.

I thought about it once. I checked out RVShare.com ( https://rvshare.com/list-your-rv?gcl...Fc64wAodtEYGqA)
Their process and insurance looked pretty good.
In the end I couldn't reconcile someone else towing my trailer safely (and I wouldn't rent my truck with it as a "package"), nor do I have a place I could park it comfortably, so I abandoned the idea.
If I had a Class C or Class A, I might reconsider. It's a tough pill to swallow letting the rig sit for some of the best camping season available. There's lots of good camping in the Spring, but we can't ever go because of work.

Okay. I appreciate it. Just looking around. Just like my house I can't live in. I enjoy someone else paying for it. I did have a contract saying no towing a vehicle behind mine. And I was considering only letting them use it stationary. Taking the driving keys and all. Hmm lots of time to think about it.
