They do the same on the rear cap as well. It is hard to see but they cover the top part of the drip rail where all of the screws go into the rig. No leaks there either.
Notice I got rid of the crank up tv antenna. I never ever used it and it had leaked through it a couple of times on my bed. Gone now.
