Seneca - Click in Left Front Wheel

Just noticed a very distinctive click in my left front wheel. Can't hear it when the window is up (which is most of the time) but with the window down it is very noticeable. Seems to click once per wheel rotation. Freightliner service is a 120 mile round trip, so I thought I would check if anybody has any info on this. Thanks.

Wheel cover or loose lug nut.

Defiantly the hub cap looking thing. Some have used aquarium type tubing to place as a spacer from wheel to hub cap and we just took ours off and snapped on individual lug covers and smaller chrome cap that covered just the hub assembly like you would see on a simi.

I tightened mine up with the socket. Seemed to take care of it.

As my friend Colombo said it is the chrome hub cover. I carefully split clear 1/4" vinyl tubing sourced from Home Depot. I put 4 pieces on the edge of each cover, leaving gaps to allow water to drain.

To get the hub covers off look for the lug nut covers that have a circumferential mark around them, those are the ones that come off. You should have received a "T" socket with your rig to remove those nuts.

That solved my click!

Robby,
I know you have talked about this problem before and your solution; would you be able to post some pictures of what you did? I can't seam to visualize from the description.

I love simple fixes. Glad I asked before driving 60 miles to the Freightliner service center. Thanks!

Here are pictures of the tubing installed on the hub cover and a shot of one of the lug nuts that has the mark identifying it as one that holds on the hub cover.

The tubing is split lengthwise, I used an Exacto knife. Be careful! Then you slip the cut tubing over the edge of the hub cover, I had to use a bit of scotch tape to hold them in place until the hub cover was replaced. Leave some gaps between sections of the tubing for water to drain out. Replace the two retaining lug nuts and tighten firmly.

Then enjoy the silence!
