Seneca - Service in Seattle?

Hi All, our 2015 Seneca appears to need new brake rotors (Les Schwab saw signs of heat cracking). We've only had the MH for a few months (so it wasn't us sitting on the brakes).

Any recommendations for service centers in the Seattle area?

Freightliner NW in Mt. Vernon is working up some numbers for us (sight-un-seen). But they're an hour's drive away. Still, if they're the best for the job, we'll take 'er up there.

The "worst case" estimate from Freightliner for a complete brake repair is around $5k (including taxes)... Yikes!

I also ping'd our dealer about the issue... we'll see if he comes back with a better idea (like they cover the tab!).

I would get a second opinion... Take it to a FL dealer and let them asess it under warranty.

A FL dealer, good idea! I didn't think of that - or the warranty potential. Thank you!

Our RV dealer found us a local truck shop that will take a look at the brakes (he doesn't work on motorhomes, though). He said some "closed" heat cracks are perfectly normal, and expects the brakes are fine, but offered to inspect them for us next week.

How ever its fixed, that sounds like a good second opinion. I was going to ask, where does this sit regarding the warranty?

Good Luck, Heading to Seattle in a month, please keep us posted with results.

About the warranty - I have no idea.

We bought the unit used in March with 30k miles on it (figured it was a good sign that the first owners put 30k on it in 2 years). We did sign up for the bumper-to-bumper extra 3rd party warranty (in case the fridge or AC decided to quit on us), but I'll have to research the chassis warranty issues, if it looks like we do need any major work.

Call any Freightliner Dealer service/warranty line. give them your VIN. they can tell you everything a dealer has done... the "In-Service Date is the day the warranty started. the Warranty IS transferrable on the chassis... not on the Jayco Warranty. .

The local truck mechanic (Moe's Truck Repair in Kirkland, WA - VERY nice people!) took a look, even creeped all under the Seneca and said it looked great... no worries. He showed me the 'cracks' the Les Schwab guys saw, and said they were perfectly normal and not excessive at all.

We'll still plan on taking it to the Freightliner service center this fall for an oil change and overall inspection, but at least we have nothing to worry about on the brakes, now.

Unfortunately Moe's doesn't work on motorhomes... just industrial/commercial trucks.

You might check Valley RV in Kent. Jayco dealer located in a former Chevrolet dealership and may have service bays large enough for Motorhome repair.

Thanks Murff... we're about 45 min from Kent - which is a good 30 minutes closer than the dealer we bought the RV from (JohnsonRV in Puyallup, soon to be in Fife), so that might be a good option.
