Sidekick Grill

Hi All,
Just purchased our new 2013 Greyhawk DS31 so my wife and I can decompress on the weekends! Love this vehicle! So much more fun to drive than the 35' CanyonStar we rented this summer! I unboxed my grill last weekend and much to my dismay it did not have the bayonet gasline to attach to the RV. Is that something I have to purchase separately? Ended up buying VERY CHEAP charcoal grill to destroy my hamburgers! Thanks!

Mine came with a mounting bracket, a hose with QC connects and a shutoff valve.

Should have been in the box. Contact your dealer he should be able to order one, actually they should have checked it before you even picked up the MH.

My hose was hidden inside the BBQ. You opened it, I assume?
I thought the BBQ was a bit small, and having a brother in law that is a machinist, he retrofitted the bumper mount bar to hold my larger Costco portable unit. Spent less than $20 on a hose to make it quick connect, and now "turnin' and burnin'" big time.

I was going to say the same thing as Cosmik, did you look inside the grill itself?

It should have been in the box. That said, you may want to leave the grill at home, and buy one that really cooks well. We have had two Sidekicks, and neither of them cooked worth a darn. Bought a Nexgrill at Costco, and am very happy with it.

turnin, and burnin Now that is a phrase I haven't heard in a long time. Were you in Navil Air by any chance. Stan

First thing I did was cut the upper rack off. It was in the way of everything. I have learned to cook on it but it is not a favorite.

That's the one. My Bro In Law was able to move the right side "pin" over and installed an aluminum block on each to accept the Nexgrill. $4.95 for a male quickconnect, $17 for a 4' hose with proper fitting for the BBQ and I'm in business.
No, not Navy, Army, but sure I learned that phrase elsewhere.

I cannot understand why anyone would cook with a grill attached to a MH. When cooking any kind of meat doesn't the smokey grease splatter on the coach? With that thought, I bought a longer gas hose so I could grill on the site table with my Webber.

I've been using mine on and off for almost 2 years. No marks or residue on the side of the rig.

Not my favourite bbq but it gets the job done.

Hi,
I had the same problem. In my wisdom I did not check the new grill out before embarking on a camping expedition. Went to set up the grill, and DID find an adaptor in the box. Trouble was, it was the wrong "sex". Ended up going to a camp supply shop in the middle of no where to buy a kit. Now I have 4 adaptors, 3 of which don't work on the Greyhawk. Lesson learned? Check things out before you have to use them

My greyhawk 31ss came with a hose too. I agree with birdfan, I wouldn't cook with the grill hanging on my MH either. I like the grill and had my hose modified so I can run it off a standard propane bottle and not right next to my motorhome. But if you need a hose. I think you might be able to get one from Amazon.

I trashed the sidekick grill after using it once. I was worried most about grease in the smoke, etc from the grill getting onthe under side of the awning. I opted to buy a Webber and carry it in one of the compartments. The Q200 fits in the right rear most compartment of my 31FS with the top removed. I carry the top in the garage compartment. I am planning on using the sidekick bracket to build a little utility shelf/drink holder.

I agree, cooking next to the coach seems to be messy. I had my hose modified to fit a standard propane tank and use it away from the coach. The last time I looked I think you could get any of the fittings on Amazon.com

I've been cooking next to the coach on and off for 2 years and not had any issues regarding splatter or causing a mess on the rig.

It sounds like you're describing the gas line to connect the grill to the TT. Mine was not in the grill box but in the under bed storage.

My lack of enthusiasm for this grill is not the mounting method or location. It is just cheap. On mine, all the chrome on it is covered in rust. I use it at home and it does an acceptable job but is corroding in front of my eyes
