Silicon vs dry lube

Noticed the stuff made for slide out rails leaves residue or waxy finish...would it be safe for me to just use pure silicon...on everything metal door hinges etc...also what is the light lithium oil for or better for...thinking of blast brand at homedepot

I have used the spray white lithium for years. Never had any build up. Just don't over do it.

I've never used the pure silicon. I did read somewhere that they removed the buildup with diesel fuel. I just spray a light spray. Less than $5 at Home Depot.
