Slide out gasket maintenance
I know I have seen a thread on here about gasket maintenance. My slide out gaskets are sticking to the coach wall. What is the recommended treatment to keep this from happening. So far there has ben no damage to the gasket. Want to fix ythis before its a problem.

I spray my gaskets with a pure silicone spray.

The dealer who I purchased from told me to take good care of the slide out gaskets. I forget the price he gave me for replacing. It was by the foot, and I have 3 slides! It would turn out to be a pretty penny to have them replace them. Any ways, he sells (of course) a slide out gasket protector/cleaner in a spray can. I think it cost around 10 bucks. I bought one, you spray it on, it foams up, let it set a while then wipe it off. I bought it in July, and used it probably 7 or 8 times. Every time I was leaving the campground, before closing the slides I would do the gaskets. It has become a regular part of my leaving routine. So far so good. it does make them look nice, new and blacker! I still have some left to start the next season with.

Before I bought the Jayco TH, my last three trailers had slide-outs. I applied STP sun of a gun protectant on the gaskets. Worked well for me.

I've heard of some who put some baby powder in a rag and wipe down the gaskets to prevent sticking.

Just had my slide out gasket on one side re-attached. Was coming off due to window on side of slide out was grabbing the gasket. Had a guy come by and add adhesive to gasket and he suggested that I spray the sides of the box (slideout) with a silicone lubricant. To spray the box and not the gasket. Will purchase some 303 protectant for the gaskets themselves. Hoping this won't happen again.

This is what a Jayco rep told me to use, it has no silicone which he said does noting more than make it look pretty, the 303 keeps the seals pliable, and protects against drying or cracking in extreme temperatures, 303 (30324) Rubber Seal Protectant. Simple to apply, bottle has a foam applicator tip.

I have also heard of this method. I haven't done anything yet but I need too. I will try this method first. I also have some 303 protectant. If not 100% satisfied with the baby powder method I will use 303.

This will make it slippery, and save the gasket from abrasion from a shiny metal surface that can stick to it. But it won't condition the rubber at all from drying, cracking, checking, oxydizing, or splitting.
