Spare Tire

I have a Seneca on a C5500 Chassis. It did not come with a spare tire. I have no plans of changing a tire myself. I am concerned that in the event of a blow out on a weekend or Holliday I may have trouble coming up with a replacement tire, or getting over charged for a replacement by road side assistance.. Does anyone have a factory installed or aftermarket spare installed on your coach. I would be interested in how and where it is mounted.

When we had ours I had it mounted right behind the fuel tank. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the company where I got the hoist. It took 2 pieces of 2x2 angle iron between the frame flanges to hang it. I had to drill a hole in the frame and the storage compartment wall for the crank to access the winch.

Memory's not as bad as I thought.

Ours came with one it was underneath just behind the rear axle. A good place to find a good tire and rim is a wrecking yard for big trucks. I picked up one for a friend he paid $100.

This is what we got:

Roadmaster Inc. - Tow Bars, Braking Systems & RV Accessories

Works great, is rock solid, and still allows the use of the hitch for towing, bike rack, etc.

Was expensive, so we made it part of the deal on the new motorhome.
