Surface rust on new Class C

Just took delivery on the Jayco Envoy 100. I followed a check list line for line (dealer wasn't too happy) but they were accommodating.

While crawling under the RV, I noticed surface rust on the chassis in-beams running under the house.

(I'll try to upload pictures)

Should I have the dealer sand off the surface rust and paint the under side?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Let us know how willing they are to do that. I have the same thing on spots on my Seneca!

If they won't, you can purchase a can of Rustolium or rust preventative type paint and do your self. Not really that hard to do.

Seeing as the Envoy is a 2018 model, I think, I'd like to know the year of the chassis. It's very common for a 2016 coach to come on a 2015 Ford Chassis.

The point being while the Envoy may be new, the chassis may have been sitting on the lot @ the Jayco plant for some time.

In any event, a little surface rust wouldn't bug me too much.
Sand it and paint it if you wish.

This does occur as others have stated. Chassis could have been sitting for awhile. Road salt can be a problem if RV was delivered during the winter months in northern areas. Check out your battery slide drawer. When I took delivery of my new 2008 Greyhawk 31SS I noticed some rust and the battery tray was hard to slide. Dealer replaced the tray before I left with the RV. No problems all these years. Just traded in the Class C so I hope someone else gets to enjoy her as much as we did.

Yep.

Chassis delivered to FORD dealer. Dealer sends chassis to JAYCO. JAYCO sends chassis to MOR-RYDE for stretch. MOR-RYDE returns chassis to JAYCO.
