Surge protector
I see places like Camping World sells these portal surge protectors for your MH. 30 AMP for my greyhawk would be about $250 there. May can find it cheaper somewhere else.
Are these needed? My son in law has had a trailer for 4-5 yrs and says they are not needed.

You don't need it until you need it. Then it is to late!

Many campgrounds are miss-wired and you wont know till it fries something in your RV... look at is as cheap insurance... Mine has saved me twice that I know of so far....

Why not get total protection with an Energy Management System. IMO surge protection is not enough. I use this one.

Good point, Seann.
I didn't realize that this model didn't cover that possibility.

I believe I got mine through etrailer.com. It was cheaper than CW or the other on-line places I tried. We spent about $230 for it, I believe. It cuts off for either surges or drops in voltage. We were camping last summer when a storm hit pretty big. It cut the TT off even though the CG still had power. I assume the voltage fluctuated and tripped it. If it saved anything in my TT that night it paid for itself right there.
