Time Share offer
I am so giddy I can't sit still! I received an offer for a 3 night FREE stay at a campground near Julian, CA if I will sit through a 90 minute sales presentation. Membership is only $8000 per Google and only $840 annually. WHAT A DEAL! Plus you receive a $40 Android tablet. FREE.
Seriously, do people still buy into this kind of thing? No equity to re-sell and a infinite annual obligation.

Should you need that tablet, do what most do - sit through the presentation, get your tablet, then say NO - IF you really, REALLY want that tablet!

There's actually a company that, for a fee, will get you out of the timeshare....

Summer 2015 we took advantage of a similar offer (camping only, no tablet). We spent 3 nights in a very nice Colorado resort for free.
We had a very nice talk with the salesman, but said up front we weren't buying. We said we'd be happy to chat with him for the 90 minutes if that was needed, but just wanted the 3 free nights.

I bet if you dig deep the lawyers or company you pay to get you out of time shares are somehow connected to a timeshare seller. Not saying it is not legit just saying they get you coming and going.

We go and get the free stuff they offer. BUT, when we sit down with the sales person, I, (Like oldmanAZ above) told the sales person, that we were going to say NO and if she wanted to waste 90 minutes of her time with us, so be it, but in the end, we are going to still say NO! She talked with us for 10 minutes, signed the paperwork showing we sat thru the meeting and left us alone. (It was a trip to the Bahamas.) Wife and I had a great time.

$8000 in camping fees and fuel would last me 10+ years, so no thanks. And a tablet that's worth $40 is probably one you wouldn't want anyway.
Every few years, we take a non-camping vacation to Las Vegas. We're always approached by the time share people in the casinos or on the street, and DW always answers them, "Désolé je ne suis pas intéressé." (Sorry, I'm not interested.) Once they hear a language that they don't recognize (French, in this case), they simply answer, "Oh, okay," and leave us alone.
(Yes, I had to look up Google Translate for that.)

RoWest, is that from the Thousand trails in Julian? Just curious. About 14 years ago we took them up on their offer for 3 free nights. When we arrived we told each other that we will say no to the sales pitch. After a brief presentation, my DH was ready to buy! I told them we would think it over during our remaining 2 nights stay. Meanwhile, we drove down to San Diego for sightseeing, shopping and some laundry. We also went by our favorite beach on Coronado Island. While there we just thought we would check if it was possible to get a spot in the Imperial Beach State park. It was 4th of July so we knew the chances were slim. Well, they worked on a lotto system back then for open spots with no reservations. We put our names in the hat and crossed our fingers. We were back in Julian about the time we needed to call in to see if we won a spot. No cell reception at 1000 trails. So we drove towards San Diego again until we had a signal. Then we called the state park and voila, we won. But, we had to check in by 3pm with our Motorhome (not just our toad). Boy we hurried back up to Thousand Trails, broke down our site quickly and drove that poor old motorhome faster than I ever have to make it in time. We didn't bother to hook up the Tacoma toad, just threw the bikes and such in the back, bungee'd them in and DH drove that. We made it to Imperial Beach with just minutes to spare. We checked in for their max stay of 2 weeks and had a wonderful time. In the end, we only stayed the 1 night at 1000 trails and no we did not buy into the time share (thank goodness!).

Time Share
It was a glossy mailer from KQ Ranch Resort with scratch off lotto ticket. Nice brochure-campground not so much. With amenities like this miniature golf to keep the youngsters busy for hours.

We sat through a half dozen time share presentations in Las Vegas.. more free dinners, shows, and hotel room than I can count later, and they never saw a penny out of us. Glad we never fell for it.

Although not camping, DW and I sat though a presentation in Sedona, AZ. At the end we said 'no thanks' and received a voucher for a free Jeep tour in the red rocks.
(BTW, this was a higher pressure presentation: We said 'no thanks' to at least 3 different people, each with a slightly different spin on why we should be buying. The second time we said 'no thanks', we were in a room not far from where other couples were 'celebrating' their purchase. I'm a skeptic: I think that was staged by other sales staff.)

About 30 year ago, a nice set of Calloway Clubs was the prize if you could endure the pitch. I really wanted those clubs.
I made it about half-way.
Ninety minutes into the preso and I decided that those clubs weren't worth the pain!
