Tire side wall cracking
Inspecting the tires on my Greyhawk related to the recall I found the outside rear tires have cracking on the side walls. The tires are only 3 years old. I do not cover them but the Greyhawk is in a covered area and gets no direct sun.
Sould these be replaced ASAP and shouldn't these have lasted longer?
My tires are not covered by the recall$k&%?

I was able to get my tires replaced under the recall, but my tires were cracking as well and they were only 19 mos old. I have always covered the tires, and recently moved into covered parking. I just assumed the cracking was the result of the recall, but was afraid it was from all the time they spent uncovered while in service. I have wondered the same though. How long should they last? The dealer that replaced the tires reminded me to make sure that I don't use a petroleum-based protectant like Armor-All, but he thought the cracking was premature as well.

You may want to contact the tire brand dealer. The tires should have lasted longer than three years. Stan

If it was a trailer, I would be concerned. Since it is a mh, I would have a authorized Michelin dealer look at the tires and give an opinion.

When you say 3 years old is that from when you bought the tires or from the date of manufacture code on the sidewall? Tires have a 5 year life from when they are made, NOT put into service.

Just talked to the local dealer said the Michelin have a tenancy to crack on the side wall, no warranty so going with 6 Firestone tires.

How many miles do you put on your rig a year? Is it driven regulary or does it sit for months?
Knock on wood, I have been running LTX MS/MS2 tires for over 15 years and have not had a blow out or tire shread yet. I have seen some superficial cracking on the tires. I expect I will be replacing RV tires more frequently than truck/van tires due to lack of usage and them sitting in one spot too long.
Tires are meant to be used and I cant see it being good on there structure to sit for long periods.

Well found out today that the tires are covered and are doing to be replaced. But that there is a "nation wide back order on the tire" so they are being replaced with Uniroyal tires.

I would opt to wait for them to become available if that is an option.

LTS/MS2 tires are what you want and they are available. Dont let them force you into putting a tire on there you dont want. I would definitely not let them put the lesser Uniroyal model on it. Wait for the tires or go with the XPS Rib.

Michelin told me that if the cracks look like spider webs. those are not an issue. If they are starting to open up (they said 1/32 or more) then you need to replace the tire.

My 2008 Greyhawk had 19k miles on them when I traded last month, and they still looked new. Even had the sticker still on every tire. No cracks, and very little wear.
