Truck battery service

I am pulling my unit out of storage and am wondering how does one check the truck batteries for water levels. The coach ones were easy took them out recharged them and topped up ready to put back in but the truck ones it's just a maze of cable's in a very tight spot , so wondering on the best way to accomplish this. thanks for any help in this, gord

The batteries installed in my Freightliner are "maintenence free" and don't have easily removable caps, but different model years and manufacturing locations may influence what batteries you find in yours. I figure I will give mine another year and just replace them before they can fail me on the road.

But you are correct, it is quite a jumble of wires under there!

If the battery has the caps for adding/checking water levels, just need a flashlight and possibly a small mechanics mirror to see down the filler holes. Add water as needed, I've used an small turkey baster to put water in batteries, a squeeze bottle with a straw to reach the filler holes, etc.

You don't indicate what unit you have, but on my GH, the cranking battery is way too easy to access compared to the house battery. Use distilled water if adding to battery.
