Had a similar problem a couple years ago. We were at a CG up on a big hill, and had lousy water pressure. The owner checked the water pumps used to push it up the hill, and said all was good. It wasn't 'till the last day, unscrewed our pressure regulator (with a screened washer) and found the screen was pressing against a "pin" in the middle of the already-there regulator. It was so small, we didn't even notice it. VOILA....lots of pressure!! I did tell the owner of my screw-up, and he had a good laugh. Now, we look FIRST to see if there's a regulator already on the hose connection.

I used to use a regulator, but the pressure was terrible with it. I bought a gauge to check the pressure at my seasonal site. The pressure was 47 psi unregulated, 37 psi regulated. After speaking with the CG owner, I now run without a regulator. He assured me that the CG pressure never goes over 50 psi. Removing the regulator made a huge difference.
Of course, I would never recommend running w/o a regulator at unknown CG's, but knowing the history of my seasonal CG, I'm comfortable running w/o one.

Are you referring to something like this?

That's an anti-siphon device, not a regulator.

Better to have the it and not need it than not have it and trash you water lines. Only 60 PSI and often campgrounds exceed this. Cheap insurance!!

BrentB, what you have pictured is a back flow preventor, or check valve. It keeps water from flowing back into the system in case of a pressure loss

Sorry it took so long .It did look similar to that picture. I wonder what affect there is when you depress the center pin, under pressure??

It will stop the water flow if the plastic didn't break or punch though your skin first.

Thanks for clearing up what I thought was a regulator. The screen on the washer was pushing on the center (came off with a dent in it), and that screwed up our water pressure. My fault for assuming! You learn somethin' every day.
