Thumbs up WooHoo... It's a six speed...

Wow, just found out why the 2016 26XD is performing soooo much better than the 2015 23XM... It's a six speed.

Gosh, It's quieter, smoother, does much better on hills (we can leave the cruise control on without screaming high RPMs). It just cruises up hill at about 2900 RPM, and best of all, we're getting a bit over 11 MPG!

I had no idea that it was a six speed tranny when we bought it, so it's a very happy surprise!

Thanks Greyhawk1,

The difference is nothing short of amazing! Just being to use the cruise control on hills without the RPM's going thru the roof is wonderful.

And, I don't understand why the cab is quieter, but it sure is... all in all, the drive is a much nicer experience.

We picked up our 2016 23XM in Michigan and did 1700 miles so far. I agree with all you said about the 6 speed and we averaged almost 12. Happy campers here!

Apparently there was a slight lowering of hp, but probably irrelevant as reported on another forum. See if you have a G in the 10th position of your vin.

I could not get 11 mpg going over a cliff. That's great.

Gosh this new owner of the Redhawk is certainly glad to hear the news from the Logans. I would assume I have the same since I have a 2016 as well! Hope so.

How long has this transmission been in the marketplace? Is this the first year for it? Thank you.

As far as I know, the 2016 Ford F450 chassis is the first year to have it. Let me tell you, it was a surprise to me! But, what a great thing... I'm very happy!

From what I understand The Logans are correct. The transmission has been used elsewhere for a couple of years now.

Just got home from 3 weeks in Florida! Averaged about 11 MPG, and WOW, the cab was so much more quiet!

All in all, what a sweet ride!
