1996 277 slide out kaput

I have a 1996 277 eagle that the slide out is not working either direction. I have done all the trouble shooting per factory tip sheets. Switches are good, have power, continuity, motor works directly to a 12 volt battery both directions. All other electrical in the camper works. What I do have is a 2 lead black and white wire that comes from right side(door side) by the ac-dc converter to the front of the camper, crosses over to left side and goes down and under by the jack motor and comes out under the bottom which I assume ties in to power the lights on the slideout. There in no power at this wire. What is this wire and would a ground short in this wire cause the slide to not function. Is it tied into the circuit of the slideout in any way. Any help greatly appreciated before I have to tear this thing apart to chase this wire.
