Me and my husband are new to the "camping" world and had some questions. Is the water heater for our 2001 jayco Qwest gas or electric? How do you go about turning it on? We just got out camper set up in a campground and want to start staying in it some during week.
More then likely it is both and you can heat with both for faster recovery time. You should have a switch for electric and gas with a light near it next to your water pump switch on the main control panel. Most important thing is to make sure the tank is full of water. To use gas flip the switch. You should hear it try and heat and as I recall the light will flash if there is an issue basically turn off then try again. And on if it is good. Electric is flip switch... fyi there maybe a master on off behind the water heater cover outside this only controls the electric and I assume to protect the heater when you drain it and turn it off to prevent someone from burning up the heater from inside not knowing it is empty, some campers use this as the only switch. Being an 01 electric could be outside only and gas a simple switch with red light somewhere inside neat the door or sink area. It could be pilot light too. Ugh the more I write the less help I seem to be. Photos would help us of the water heater with cover off.
