Unhappy 2015 33.5rets 5th wheel

I purchase a new 33.5RETS 5th whl. I'm not happy with it. Water heater wouldn't work, Denver mattress has big dip in the middle(I weigh175, wife115), door lock will not work. Carpeting in slide is folding. Closet handles broke. Cloths rod misaligned, black water valve stuck open and the water pump has to be replaced. Has anyone had problems with 5ths???? I can't believe that Jayco would allow this to happen. Guys, I so....... disappointed with Jayco. Any good advice?

I wish the quality control was better on RV's. I also have a list of items that need fixing. Most of them easy fixes except I need the front cap repainted due to premature fading. I have had other brand 5th wheels and TT and they also had items to be repaired. Getting the bugs out of a new RV is not limited to any price range RV. I have friends with high and lower end units and most have had items to be fixed when they were new. What I like about Jayco so far is the no hassle warranty repairs. Not all RV owners can say that. If you like the unit I think when you get the items repaired you will get good service from the RV and enjoy it for many years.

I purchased the same model in a 2014. Had 3 major problems right out the door that should have never left the factory. Furnace has had to be pulled out of the unit twice to replace control board and then later igniter. And guess what, no access to furnace in our year model. A hole had to be cut in the basement storage access to even get to the furnace. That being said, it took three trips camping to find an identify all the problems. The dealer was Johnny on the spot in getting all the Jayco problems fixed. We have had the unit for a year and a half now and just love it. Our carpet curls up too when the slides are closed as they have no place else to go. After a few steps however, they lay pretty flat. Hopefully, your dealer is a good as ours.

If it's new (<2 yr) the dealer should make it right. I would think some of the more visible defects would be spotted during PDI. Our '13 351RLTS had very few issues. It's at the dealer right now for a front cap paint (warranty) and a couple of minor issues that I would have fixed if it didn't need the cap painted.
We hope to pick it up this Sat, I'll report on the outcome.

My friend bought a different make, Sunset Trail and I bought an Eagle. He had more than a few problems with his when we went away for the first time last weekend. Had a couple myself even though mine is a 2012 and was supposed to have been PDI'd. Whatever trailer you buy, from what I've seen, has its problems and like skijlw says, its how they are dealt with that matters. Once they are fixed, you will be able to enjoy it more.

What i keep telling people is that not everyone is brilliant at their job. You dont get a whole work crew of superstars. Unfortunately that is life for all industries. If they fix it with no hassle, i have no problem with that.

I have the same problem with my carpet. I guess it a design issue.

We picked up the 5th on schedule and the cap looks great. The little problems were also fixed.
Some units seem to be put together by pros and others by amateurs. No idea what causes the variability but it sure causes grief for the folks that get the sloppy ones. Good luck!

You're probably right on that one, RedHorse. My take on this is that the RV industry "hit the skids" somewhere around 2008 and had to lay off a bunch of workers but as of, somewhere around 2013 the industry took off like gang-busters and not enough qualified workers to be found that fast. I think quality (or lack of) is a problem industry wide at the moment.
